Tharimmune, an American biotech company, announced it has raised $540 million through a private placement. The company intends to use the proceeds to create a Canton Coin treasury and deploy network infrastructure within the Canton Network ecosystem, while maintaining its original focus on biotech.
The IPO was priced at $3,075 per share and is scheduled to close on November 6, 2025. Investors include ARK Invest, DRW, Kraken, Polychain Capital, Broadridge, and Liberty City Ventures. According to Bloomberg, a portion of the investment from DRW and Liberty City will be made in Canton Coin tokens, which are not yet listed on public crypto exchanges, rather than in fiat.
Canton Coin is a key element of the Canton Network, a blockchain developed by Digital Asset Holdings to connect regulated financial institutions. This network enables atomic settlements between various asset classes, ensuring secure exchange and interaction between banks and financial institutions. Its members already include Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas, and DTCC.
Tharimmune plans to use a portion of its capital to purchase Canton Coin tokens, launch validator nodes, and develop applications operating within the Canton Network ecosystem. At the same time, the company is not abandoning its biotechnology activities; instead, it intends to integrate blockchain technologies into its corporate structure, combining innovations from both fields.
Particularly noteworthy is the fact that this investment round marks the Canton Foundation's first investment in a publicly traded company. According to the foundation, this event demonstrates the growing confidence of institutional investors in digital assets and blockchain-related projects.
Previously, in early 2025, Digital Asset Holdings raised $135 million with the participation of DRW, Tradeweb, and Goldman Sachs. The funding was then used to expand institutional solutions for the Canton Network.
Thus, the new partnership between Tharimmune and the Canton Foundation not only strengthens the positions of both entities in the digital sector but also symbolizes the gradual convergence of traditional and decentralized financial systems.
